Amy Akbari, IDHP

With over 15 years of experience in the dental field, I have dedicated my career to enhancing patient care and bridging the gap between oral health and total body wellness. I began my journey in 2007, working as a dental administrative assistant, and quickly realized I was meant to do more in the dental field. I graduated as a dental hygienist in 2010 and spent the next nine years refining my skills and deepening my understanding of patient care. In late 2019, I fulfilled a long-held dream by opening Slate Dental. My drive to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care led me to further my licensure, advancing from a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to an Independent Dental Hygiene Practitioner (IDHP). But my passion for health doesn’t stop at the mouth. I am also certified in integrative nutrition, hormone health, gut health, personal training, and yoga teaching, and currently pursuing further education in oral-systemic health.

As a mother of two and a devoted wife, my commitment to health and well-being is both personal and professional. Everything I do is aimed at the betterment of my family, my patients, and myself. At Slate Dental, I run my practice as a clinician first, and the business follows. My goal is to provide my patients with the highest quality care, using the best equipment and materials, and to educate on how dental hygiene is linked to the body and how better care can significantly improve your overall health.
