Scaling & Root Planing

(tartar removal)

Nonsurgical scaling and root planing therapy (SRP) is considered the gold standard for the initial treatment of inflammatory periodontal disease. Removing both hard and soft deposits SRP has been extensively documented and has been shown to be a highly predictable and successful treatment in managing and improving "gum disease". We use a combination of piezo ultrasonic scaling and hand instruments to ensure complete removal.

Dental X-Rays & Imaging

We use digital phosphorous plates. This gives a great digital image while allowing for the highest level of comfort. Dental X-rays are crucial in dental hygiene as they allow us to see between your teeth and below your gums, identifying issues that aren't visible during a routine cleaning. They help us detect early signs of cavities, gum disease, bone loss, and other potential problems, enabling us to tailor your hygiene treatments for optimal oral health and send referrals as needed. 

Periodontal Examinations

A periodontal exam is a thorough evaluation of the health of your gums and the supporting structures of your teeth. During this exam, we measure and assess several key indicators; pockets, recession, mobility, furcations and clinical attachment loss. This exam is essential for diagnosing and managing gum disease, as well as establishing your appointment frequency.

Anti Cavity Fluoride Varnish

At Slate, we use Floromax, a superior fluoride varnish that offers enhanced protection compared to standard products. It is designed for optimal adhesion and better absorption, that stays on the teeth longer while being a lower concentration than other products. This treatment is quick, safe, and an essential part of our preventive care strategy, especially for patients at higher risk of cavities.

Our take-home teeth whitening kits offer a convenient way to achieve professional results from the comfort of your home. These kits use the same neutral pH formula with both carbamide and hydrogen peroxide, ensuring effective whitening with minimal to no sensitivity. Paired with an LED mouthpiece, the treatment requires just 20 minutes a day, delivering a noticeably brighter smile.
